Happy new year to all !!!
Would like to hear from those that have used both and which one they preferred and why? Wanting to try my hand at bedding a couple rifles (savage mod 10 and rem 700) and skim bedding a rem 700 30br with a aluminum bedding block like the one urbanrifleman sells. I've never bedded a rifle before but have some auto body experience lol...

Heres a good tutorial on how to bed your stock. The only difference is theres aluminum in there you need to grind away. I suggest using marine tex or jb weld for your application

I've used the Devcon 10110 along with many others....Marine Tex, etc. and they all have their quirks and good points and good results can be had from several quality products. Pro Bed 2000 is what I use exclusively.

You can't tell a good or bad bedding job from pictures but here's a few done with Pro Bed 2000.

Good shootin' -Al

Al,
Those are some good looking results.I hope mine will turn out close to what them look like.

Dusty may be trying to tell me something like quit while I'm ahead lol.

I guess I should have mentioned the reason I nnarrowed it down to these two specific products where work time and I have 3 maybe 4 rifles I was wanting to bed ,not all at the same time mind you but within the next few months and was wanting to get enough of one product to cover them all.

I think Mr. Nyhus is a little too modest about his work. ALL his work looks exceptional and I am envious of his results.

This has worked well for me. Not to thin or thick and is easy to work with. I also use clear shoe polish for a release agent.
I know a lot of people have used/use marine tex but I thought being knew hand at it I might the need extra working time the pro bed and/or the devcon would allow me.Looks like it was no problem for you though Tucker, looks good...

Another thought would regular play dough work as good as modeling clay for plugging all the holes up in receiver and stock? I think I seen someone using it on one of the videos I had been watching but cant find it now...I've been watching a bunch of them trying to pick up a few pointers...

Also seen someone built a dam in front of recoil lug with clay to keep epoxy from getting under barrel does that work pretty good or is there a better way to do it?

Question--do you apply any of the bedding "goo" to the action itself, or does it all go into the stock?

Al`s work is flawless!! Al can you tell us rookies what appeals to you about Pro Bed? Thanks Bud.

Paul
I’m not Al and don’t do near that good of work, yet. But one big thing is the Pro Bed is a 50/50 mix and the Devcon is 1/9….that in and of itself makes the possibility of getting the mixture perfect much easier. At this point, I’ve only used Devcon but will give Pro Bed a try when I‘m out of Devcon. I use a scale now to make sure the Devcon is mixed correctly.

Visually, I’m not sure I could tell the difference between them.

Search for a Richard Franklin video on bedding, he is a proponent of putting bedding compound on the action to reduce the chances of having trapped air bubbles appear in the surface of the finished job.

I coat the action up to the stock line and put compound in the inlet so both surfaces are covered Far from an expert but it works well for me .

Nitrile gloves and denatured alcohol or white vinegar are your friends for cleaning up the squeeze out of compound without resorting to strong solvents such as Acetone.

I use silly puddy to plug holes, epoxy doesn’t stick to it like clay does some times. I have used all the common bedding compounds and I like Pro bed the best. Marine Tex is good stuff I just let it start to setup before using it.
