Recently I have received an order of 50 Privi .243 cases. Looking them over, the quality seems quite good. I would caution you about one thing. Apparently the tumbling process has thickened the case mouths and if you measure necks ,particularly in the case of a short one like this caliber has, you may not see how uniform the thickness of the necks are. After I discovered the problem, I chamfered and deburred the cases, but that did not remove all of the ridge on the outside of the case mouth, so I did a little careful scraping on a couple of cases before measuring them and after removing the last of the ridge, I was able to determine that the neck thickness runout is very good. Another complication is that unturned necks are tapered, so slight differences on how far down the neck measurements are taken as one goes around the neck, show up as if there were thickness differences due to runout. I need to make a spacer for my micrometer so that I can butt case mouths against it to remove this variable. Bottom line, for those situations where you might not want to have the expense of Lapua brass, this is probably a good alternative. My plan is to put one firing on all of these cases and then trim them all to a length that will clean up the shortest one.
