Primers ?

first time I saw it in 1995. As mentioned above, that chart is about 30 years old. I have no faith in its accuracy. Makes no sense for CCI to have multiple thicknesses and diameters and height SR primers. Thicker cup for mag primers. And mag primers come in two different flavors. Some are hotter burning, great for ball powder and extremely cold weather. The other flavor is thicker cups to better handle higher pressure.

The primer cup thickness is real, no doubt about that. Maybe the slight difference in height is just how the thicker or thinner cup forms in the stamping die while being manufactured. Just a thought.

It's interesting that we see a lot of product development, manufacturer innovations and experimentations within the industry year after year (often times just disguised as marketing), but rarely do you ever hear of anything on the primer side. We have seen new packaging over the years, but have we really seen any new development around control of the primer ignition or consistency?

Are they that boringly reliable that the performance characteristics haven't changed much over the decades? (not necessarily talking about a lot difference.

.223 years ago ! Winchester White Box gave AR Match Shooters the faster Ammo at 200 and 300 yards.
We used 205M's for our 600 yard load ?

In the past years 450's in SP .308 Palma Ammo was the Key.
I still find 450's the Best for my Dasher F/Class Rifles with 105 class Bullets.
