Primers for 6.5-284

I have been using Fed210s for my 6.5-284 lately, but I don't want to count out other primers as well. I have some CCI BR2s also. Powders availiable are H4831SC and H4350. Got about a 4" group at 550yds today with H4831SC (49.5grs) 140gr JKL bullets and Fed210 primers, brass is Lapua. Was pretty happy with it as I haven't shot long range in over 2 years. I am always striving to do better as I am slowly getting back into this sport. Was just curious if other primers may help shrink group size or should I just stick with the trusty Fed210 primer. Any info or opinions are greatly appreciated.

If you haven't tried the Wolf/Tulammo LR primers, you really ought to.

Less $$ than the 210's or BR-2's, they consistently produce SD's and groups lower/ tighter in the cartridges I shoot using LR primers: 308 for Palma & 6XC for mid- to long-range, 6HAGAR in a spacegun for 600 yards.

Thanks. Where would I get these primers?

Powder Valley seems to have the best stock & prices of the on-line outfits I've bought from over the years, but they're sold by other firms too to be fair. Here are some links for your convenience; some may not have 'em in stock right now so check 'em all.

What you want are generally referred to as the Wolf / TulAmmo large rifle primer or KVB-7 product.

Right now $16/1000 seems to be the lowest price, about the same as Fed210/210M but far less than what you might have to pay for BR-2's.

Word is that the Wolf and TulAmmo brands are from the same plant in western Russia, only the packaging is different. Also be aware they need to be seated firmly.

Mine likes the br2s best so far. I have had JLKs for a couple of years but never loaded them till this summer. Worked up load in Tenn will take to range soon and let you know.

Wolf and BR2 have the hardest cups and take the most pressure. I have similar results from either one. I get them at Brunos.

Because you can walk in the door.......

I always use 210's in mine, and worry about the other things that matter more.

That is partly true, I would not want to pay shipping and Haz-mat and tax, so I pick to pay sales tax only. It is a 45 mile drive for me so i usually plan to stop by when I have other business taking me that far north in Phx.

If he has what i want in stock and I can't find it elsewhere- why not? Walk-in customers have got to be a minor part of his business. If that wasn't true, he would have a showroom.
