Primers-cannot find Federals, or any benchrest primers-"ONLY"CCI-200 or Win LR

If I am to reload anything for my .308 w/20" bbl and 1-12 twist I will have to use either CCI-200, CCI-250 (mag) or Win LR primers-as that is the only thing I can/have found available for the last 5-6 months. Please don't suggest a place to buy-I keep checking most all sites/gun shops/ranges. My question is would I be wasting my time trying to make accurate loads with these primers. I have 4064, and 4320 powder, Hornady brass, 168 match Sierras ,Hormady A-max, Noslers, Bergers. If those experienced reloaders here know that trying to assemble accurate loads with the primers I have is futile-then I will just keep shooting factory Federal 168 SMK's in the future until I can find some Federal, RWS, BR,or maybe even Tula primers. Thanks for any help/replies.

I really doubt you'll have problems with those primers..
Work up a good load with the powders, and primers you have on hand, and have right at it...,.

There was zero difference between the Federal 210's and 210M's in .308 load. Both shoot the same sub 0.50" five shot groups at 100yds.

Sounds like he doesn't want help so don't tell him. Only possible and logical answer, although the initial post is unique to say the least.

Don't leave out Wolf/Tula primers. Low flash makes for smaller ES and SD numbers. Powder Valley usually has them. You will have no problems using the primers that you have listed.

Sorry Shynloco and Danattherock, I did not mean to sound the way I did. I certainly appreciate the fact that you looked for some-for me, and yes I would buy them. My past experience has been -I see some on a site, and as I get ready to order-POOF, sorry out of stock.Has happened many times to me. I have even tried to have me notified when they are in stock. Guess I am just frustrated trying to buy. I am old -but I do/can order stuff. Maybe it is my timing. Sorry if I sounded arrogant. The only powder/primers I have been able to get (the CCI 200 and Win LR were small amounts from Cabellas, Academy, and one gun range-all about 70 miles away.

Also I am having a hard time finding boxes of Federal 168 SMK gold match. I stumble across 1-2 once in a while. Another reason I want to get reloading supplies, that or I won't be shooting much .308. Looks like the shelves are full of .223 stuff though.

Careful, the price could go up.

CCI 200 primers work just fine for me as does Wolf LRP.

My rifle will generate 0.6 MOA group with either primer when I do my part.

Gunbot.net will help with your search.

As it should be. The OP needn't worry: "match" primers are no different chemically than regular primers. Structural difference is the wider QC parameters given regular primers; both types actually come off the same belt together. Ignition characteristics per se and group size between the two "grades" of primers won't vary one iota.

I have shot a lot of 4064 with 168 SMk's using Win LR's and CCI 200's. I would not worry... they will work just fine if your goal is to build a load that replicates the 2600fps of the Federal GMM.
