Tula primers vs CCI, Win, etc?

Have mostly used CCI primers in the past, have had good success with them. Because of all the shortages I bought some Win LR primers a while ago and have had good luck with them as well.

How do Tula primers stack up? I've heard that they are the same as Wolf, that they aren't the same etc- not really concerned with that as much as whether they're accurate, consistent primers. Thoughts?

Tula primers are harder to seat. Switched from CCI 200 to Tula LR and it is more of an effort to seat. They are ever so slightly wider and I believe thicker cup....?

But I have seen/read posts about the Tula primers giving lowest ES of the match primers. I haven't had the opportunity to check this out myself

Thanks for the reply- have you noticed an accuracy difference or anything else to differentiate between the two performance wise other than the seating?

well not 100% sure I just started load workup with Tula and now had to just send my barrel off to Shilen :'( But they looked like they were going to shoot well for me with initial loads

A couple of things. One is for 223 reloading, I switched from Rem 71/2 to Wolf SRM recently because a bunch of them came on the market about 6 months ago and I thought I would try them. The rationale is I read in German Salazar’s “The Rifleman’s Journal” that at least their LR primers are much “softer” in terms of ignition and can result in a more consistent ignition and so better SDEV in MV. Have been using them now for about a month and although I don’t have a definitive proof, I would say that this appears to be true thus far. They also appears to work with no problem thus far – so good news if they are even only as good as the Rem 71/2.

In the mean time, I ran across some Tula LR magnum primers and so also brought a bunch. I don’t have them yet (to be shipped at the end of the month) but my hope is that they too will work out as well if not better than the Rem 91/2 I am now using. I am also glad to hear from Andrew that the Tula are larger since some of my other 308 brass’s primer pockets are starting to loosen – LOL! One thing I can say though is the Wolf SRM primers are not wider in diameter than the Rem 71/2, but both the Wolf SRM and Rem 71/2 are significantly smaller than the CCI400 I used to use but gave up on due to their thinner cup.

No real definitive answers for you but just learning and thought I would share.
