Primers and Varget available

You live in a free country: do as you like. Similarly, the owner of Brunos lives in a free country, purchased his supplies with his own hard-earned cash, and can do as he sees fit. I'd rather pay more for something that is in short supply than to not find it anywhere at "lower" prices. Brunos is practicing good ole capitalism.....you know, that system that made us the greatest country on earth. Kudos to you Bruno and thanks for having things in stock when we really need it. If Bruno is doing such a terrible disservice to the community, maybe a few of you should get together and start up your own supply shop...you can call it Socialist Shooters United...no profits alllowed! :)

Dittos - I don't understand - - the potential purchasing involved is a voluntary purchase and if someone doesn't like the prices charged then don't buy what is being offered for sale.

I think it's outrageous (totally outrageous) that people sit here on this thread and trash a guys business. How would they like it if we pointed out these individuals by name for being curmudgeonly cheapskates and trashed them in public on this forum and see how they like it and whether they think that is fair.

Just my 2 cents.

Don't want to mention the word "gouge", but I just paid $246. for 3000 CCI BR-4's.......OOUUCCHH !!! Never Again At That Establishment....

Anyone who buys from them must not value $$ or just has enough they don't even have to think about what they are spending or buying

Point well taken; and I really can't afford their prices for very long.
But my relatively heavy shooting schedule has consumed all the Varget I had and I haven't been able to find it anywhere else.
So what alternative would you suggest?

And those who pockets are deep enough to buy from Bruno's are also hurting the rest of the shooting community as well. As long as Lester, Amy and the rest of the bunch see sells coming in they will continue to keep there prices jacked up as they are.
If companies like this gouges its customers in the open what do you think they are doing we don't know about and see? It sure makes one wonder huh?
So what do you suggest a person who needs certain reloading items and can only find them at Bruno's do, go without. I am sure that many of those buying from Bruno's would go somewhere else to order if the items were readily available somewhere else. I just started reloading early this year so I did not have a stockpile of reloading supplies or equipment to fall back on, in fact I had nothing and it took a lot of effort on my part to find what I needed but I did. The most difficult item to find was primers. The only place I could find them was Bruno's. I paid what they charged and they had a minimum of 3000 primers to be able to place the order. I had to wait several weeks but when they came I was sure glad to have them and I have not missed any shooting since then due to lack of supplies. One guy I know told me he would never pay what I paid for those primers and he would never buy from Bruno's again. The funny thing was, about a month latter when he was running low on primers and unable to find any he called me and wanted me to sell him some of those overpriced Burno's primers, and he did not hesitate to pay what Bruno's had charged me. By the way I have recently purchased the other style primer I had been looking for and found it locally but I am still glad I found those primers at Bruno's last Feb.

I am sorry to hear that you think I am hurting the rest of the shooting community by buying at Burno's. It is kind of like buying gasoline, I buy it where it is cheapest but if I am close to empty and cannot find it cheap I buy where it is available and pay their posted price. Nothing worse than running out of gasoline or running out of reloading supplies.

I agree completely. This is capitalism at its best. I choose whether or not to spend my money, not the supplier. If I'm not willing to pay the asking price, I don't. How much I am willing to pay depends a lot on whether the alternative is simply to do without. When demand is high and supply is low (or almost nonexistent), prices always go up. If someone wants to think of this as "price gouging", they're certainly free to do so, just as they're free NOT to buy said product if they feel the price is too high. Fortunately that leaves more available for those that actually understand how supply and demand works.
+1 Later! Frank

You guys think you have it bad? We are paying over $300AU for 4kg of varget here in Australia AND WE MAKE THE STUFF! Get used to it, we pay highly inflated prices for all the US projectiles, cases and primers we use. And we are about to bend over and cop it further. 180gr berger hybrids are going to be close to $70 a box for us soon!

Well Dude.....I reckon that's when I'll just start playing 'mumbley-peg' because for the last 65 years I've been able to 'cut the heart' out of the best shooting in the world!!

People need to improve their foraging skills. I was short of primers and found that by doing some early morning shopping at one of the local "big box outfitters" I found some. OK so I had to go to the store early and the pickings were slim but I certainly didn't have to give up shooting.

One can also go to the online sites that accept backorders, place your order, and just be patient. Those that did this found their wait times to not be a lot more than what your's was a Bruno's.

As for Bruno's? People always vote with their wallets. He may be "raking it in" right now but let's see how well things go when supplies return. They will, and prices will stabilize in no time at all when that happens.

Bruno's is no different than the rest of the gougers and thieves..just don't buy anything from them, start a movement and you'll see how fast they and all the rest of the thieves posing as shooters friends change their minds.. I haven't bought a single reloading item in over a year or however long it's been since this latest hoarding and gouging episode has been going on... just don't but anything, you'll live and if enough people stop falling for this nonsense it'll be the last episode..just like the primer shortage of 5 years ago...after the hoarders stopped buying all of a sudden primers where sitting on the shelves with dust on them and no one buying because most had enough to last 5 life times...answer another reloading fiasco and all of a sudden the shelves are empty ago, can we be this stupid!!!

Well, I just started to get into the rifle thing and althought I have beeen reloading for 1911's and revolvers for a few years, I decided to take the plunge. Well, I bought some stuff here and there and also from Brunos. I paid, bad. I would say this, althought I like to shoot if I had to do it again I would just keep the minimum pistol stuff, sell the rifle and stuff for that and go into archery. As time goes by I just have to wonder if it is all worth it.

OOUUCH is right! I just got back from our local Fleet Farm store and they were $52 per 1000 which is still pretty high. I can't imagine $82!

I got my 6BR in Feb then spent most of Feb and Mar looking for reloading supplies and equipment. Talk about bad timing to get into this sport. Locally there was almost nothing available and it was tough on the internet but I managed to get the reloading equipment and supplies and in March loaded my first 6 BR rounds and have continued to find what I need here and there, mostly on the internet. As I have said before, in Feb/Mar the only place I found primers was Brunos and that has been the only thing I have purchased from them and I was happy to get the primers from them. As time has gone by I have found the hassles all worth it and have really enjoyed the long range shooting. I have learned a lot from both this web site and it members and the very helpful friends I have made at my local club. Believe me when I say as time has gone by it has been worth it and I think you will also find it that way.

I'm going with you guys on this, 100%... More of the entitlement mentality if you ask me - people feel they they are entitled to a certain product at a certain price.

Nope, does not work like that...

While I plan ahead and don't need to pay more for anything, I am damn glad that it is out there SHOULD I CHOOSE to pay more for it.

Well I hope it is worth it. Although I started hunting and shooting as an adult, I have always loved the outdoors. That makes it worth while.

I don't see how entitlement has entered this. Fair market value is the topic as I see it. No one is asking for a subsidy of any sort. However, in the end, everyone wants something.

Been seeing 8lbs going for roughly $160 and 8X 1lbs for $180 just a few weeks ago. So Varget is available at a decent price, just have to keep watching the sites for when shipments arrive.

Consider this - the main reason Bruno's has stuff in stock is because his prices are so high! Other places have kept prices the same or raised them moderately (PV for one), so that's where most folks buy - when they have any stock!. I see other vendors with some product - their prices seem to be between Bruno and the others.

Lately, local stores have had most types of ammo in stock so perhaps we will begin to see some softening in the reloading component market. That's assuming that the ammo shortage had pushed people into reloading. It pushed me into loading .45 ACP but I still buy the factory stuff because I just can't spare more time spent at the loading bench.
