Primer Shortage

I have been helping a younger shooter get into the shooting sports and reloading. This is his first experience with reloading component shortages and panic gun buying. I explained that we go thru this cycle every eight to ten years so experienced folks keep several years of reloading stock on hand. I gave him a brick of primers and told him to remember this in the future. I thought it a good investment, he is a life long liberal from a liberal family but he has discovered shooting, competition and reloading. I never mentioned politics to him but now he is telling me about his political conversion. I do not push or gloat, I just smile and help him as much as I can.. All is well.

In the last week, I sold over 125,000 Federal primers on a local gun board at my NORMAL prices.
Customers were very happy.
Price gougers piss me off to no end.

I saw online 1 seller for primers asking 10.00 for 100 BR2 primers I will wait

No problem at all getting primers here except at big stores like Cabelas and Sportsmans. Picked up 2000 last week at somewhat elevated price.

Price gouging and supply/demand are different things.

I probably have more powder and primers than a lot of small gun shops. None of it was bought this year with the exception of some powder. The last time this happened I wasn’t in very good shape, my stock pile was pathetic, mentally I told myself I would be in better shape the next time it happened. So in 2018 &2019 when prices started to get reasonable again I made a list of things I wanted and filled that list here and there over two years. That’s not hoardering, that’s just being prepared. I’ve also helped out a lot of my buddies who needed things since the first of this year. 2020 is not a great time to buy anything for reloading, prices are silly, shame on the gougers but to each their own. If your in bad shape this round resolve to change that, when the supply chain fills back up and prices are fair. Nothing wrong with being prepared, it’s no fun to have a firearm and not be able to enjoy it.

I actually had no intention of selling the primers until I saw a few people posting stuff up for stupid prices.
I figured it was maybe time for some fun.....LOL

I actually had a "gouger" try and buy them for resale.......That did not happen...LOL
