Primer Question

I'm loading 300 whispers with 10 grains of H110 with a 190 Sierra match king and a federal small rifle match primer.

With the primer advalibilty the way it is right now, would I be able to sub a federal small pistol match for the small rifle match? Or would I have a delayed ignition?

You may have a delayed return home if those SP primers don't hold up to the pressures.

It's generally accepted that pistol primers, apart from being different dimensions than rifle types) are made of less robust cup metal owing to the different applications they're made for.

They may fit, but they may not be safe....

H-110 wants magnum primers. Since what you're loading is considered a light charge for pistol, I don't see why a pistol primer wouldn't work. My reservation regards using a light load of H-110. Hodgdon warns against it, but then I don't shoot 300 Whisper.

Scott - subsonic rounds are lower pressure...

As far as I know, pistol, geez, don't pay for 'match') primers are the norm in sub rounds...

That is what I used in 308 sub rounds.
