Sometimes I wonder just how far we actually NEED to go to get accurate reloads... One of the guys I shoot with, Matt Davis, tells me he doesn't even bother to clean the primer pockets prior to replacing a primer. And he puts the whoop to me quite often and he won the TSRA State Mid-Range Championship late last year with a phenomenal score over all. I believe he also set the club record at 600 yards that same event with a score of (I believe) 200-17 OR 18 "X"s"!! So it makes me wonder just how much actual "prep" work R-E-A-L-L-Y makes a difference!

+1. Practice helps, but some guys can just shoot, some can't. Regards JCS

Agree 100%

I also believe that some (me sometimes?) think that if the cartridge is perfect it will shoot it self. And they (me sometimes?) forget about marksmanship fundamentals like focusing and concentration, trigger control, and breathing.

Many guys would rather play with new loads, new guns, and new tools rather than practice the skills that win matches. Getting a gun that is competitive and a good load is really not that hard. Shooting it well enough to beat the good competitors is really hard. I do the minimum work on guns and loads that is needed to be competitive... my rifle (service rifle, match rifle and bench gun) all shoot well enough to win in the hands of the best SHOOTER.
