PRIMER POCKET REAMING,ISNT THERE A MORE PRODUCTIVE WAY?

I use the Hornady primer pocket reamer. It indexes off the bottom of the primer pocket so you can't overdo it. I used to use a Dillon swagger, but as said previously, you have to adjust for each brand/lot of brass, which is useless when you're looking at a bag full of once fired range pickup brass of random manufacture.

Oh. I think mine is K&N tool that will chuck up in a standard power drill. I found if I did many cases I would get a blister, so I went to Harbor Freight and bought those inexpensive gloves with the rubber coated fingers. Much easier to hold on to the cases to get the uniforming tool to do its thing this way.

Now? My shooting volume has dropped drastically, and I shoot Lapua brass in bolt rifles, and I haven't seen the need to uniform primer pockets in quite awhile.

I feel the pain jon,
Even with a power set up my fingers get sore just holding the brass :'(
I have a "wide receiver's" glove from under armor that I tacky and hold the brass well but when you have a 5 gallon bucket you just have to cringe...I left you a voice mail on sunday let me know if you figure it out. I have the 21st century tool but have not used it yet. still on the Sinclair...

To take the wrist and finger pain away, here's what I did....

I took a chunk of fist-sized 2x4 and bored a hole through it slightly smaller that max brass case diameter. With this, I can push the case into the hole until it wedges in the wood, leaving the head of the case sticking out one side and the neck end sticking out the other.

Holding the block in one hand (shape it to fit your hand) and my variable speed drill with Sinclair uniformer in the other, the job is now much less painful.

A dab of Imperial wax with a Q-tip speeds the process.

To remove the case I shove the neck end of the case against my wood work bench.

Have also used this combo on the drill press but it takes longer.

Oh what a relief it is!

First, I'm not a volume reloader, a large batch is 100 rounds tops.

I made these moons ago to use in a Wilson trimmer...

I don't remember where I got the cutters, Sinclair maybe? They only cut the bottom and square the wall-floor junction of the pockets to a consistent depth from the casehead. They're sharp little buggers, a few turns of the handle and done.

I use the 21st Century uniformer and I chuck it up in a mini lathe. I can do 100 pcs of brass in no time. I wear a light leather glove to prevent cuts from case mouth in case the case grabs and spins.
