Primer for 9mm

I was wondering if my gun will be safe. Started loading some 9mm the other day and when I got my brass tumbled I went right into sizing and priming not thinking what primer was called for in my recipe. The recipe as is,

Twist: 1:10.000"
Barrel Length: 4.000"
Trim Length: 0.750"
BULLET WEIGHT 115 GR. LRN
CASE WINCHESTER
PRIMER CCI 500, SMALL PISTOL

HodgdonLongshot1.1005.0 gr1,03220,200cup6.0gr1,16627,300

I started priming the cases with old Remington 7 1/2 primers, I need help figuring if these are safe to shoot because I would like to not have to waste about 200 primers. I did some research, and it seems ok. Just figured I would load the minimum at 5 grains. anyway, from here on out I will be using the right primers. Speaking of which anyone willing to sell me some cci 500 or could I substitute that primer with say a cci small rifle or small pistol magnum. i also will be looking to switch to Winchester primers because that's all the Hornady book recommends this edition.

Also, should mention I am shooting a Walther PDP Full size with a 4.5-inch barrel shot a few and it did cycle.

they will probably shoot but those are small rifle benchrest primers. I would try hard to use small pistol. Winchester WSP should work fine

they are from like the 70s i dont think they are benchrest i thought the box said small rifle magnum but ill go check fast

They’ll be fine. To be extra cautious just load a mild charge. Worst that’s gonna happen is light strike on a thicker cup

Do you think i could substitute most small pistol primers and be safe at a mild charge cause cci 500 are few and far between but i got 1000 fed small pistol and a bunch of cci small rifle

yes small pistol will be fine
The end game will be to use the old up and replace with winchester primers cause i got hornadys new book and thats all im seeing. I didnt want to use longshot but i got it for ahotgun and see most loads are fast lead so i am just going to load the 9mm up while i got it then prolly swap to power pistol or cfe pistol

Pressure won't be too dangerous? I read of a lot of people preferring the thicker case primer, so they go with small rifle. I have a lot of 7 1/2s I use for 223 ball ammo and was trying to get um into 9 as well
I recall primers contribution to pressure being around 5ksi. At the min charge I think you’d be ok

There is a video on youtube by Super Vel conducting pressure testing with small rifle primers used in small pistol cartridges. In their case it did not matter. I regularly use winchester small rifle and cci400 primers in my 38 special and 9mm auto pistols for plinking. I have had light strikes in my 38 with the rifle primers but no issues in my striker fired guns. As always just work up from the bottom which you should do no matter what primers you use.
