Primer Brands

Does anyone have, or know where I can find information comparing primer brands with respect to which ones are hotter than the others, harder, softer, burn rates, burn patterns, etc.? Thanks

None is better than the other. They all have different ignition properties. Trying all of them will yield the best accuracy.

Federal has the softest cups, CCI is the hardest.

I admit it's dated information, but the Precision Shooting Benchrest Primer had a interesting comparison article on the subject complete with ignition photo's.

For starters cup hardness in some cases is negated by a thinner cup.Primers can make a difference. I never used Fed 205M in my life. Several years ago I decided to chase ES. I got all three bench rifles from the teens to 5 or under when I tried 205Ms.

IMO primers matter, get your pet load, back it off, work back up with a different brand of primers, bet the ES and SD and group size will not be the same.. might be better, doubt it,
