Pricing a new rifle - sources

I’m interested in buying a rifle. Cheap rimfire but this question is for all rifles. Im looking for a website that will shop for best price on a particular rifle. I want to say i have used a site that gave several options when buying tikka savage cz but can not remember what site. Is there a good source or website that produces a list of what a fella is looking for ? I have a need/want for Winchester expert in 17 wsm with 18” barrel and the prices are all over the place with Tupperware stock ! Any suggestions appreciated.

I’ve purchased from both buds and grabagun multiple times and with great success no problems. 280 I’ve never had a lgs to come even close to a decent price so i just try to find by search and ship to my ffl. When i say not close i mean 100 $ after fees taxes shipping. The cheap Winchester i want even has rebate right now 10% from Winchester. That’s 25 bucks or insurance/shipping cost. I’m not that bad of tight ass but if i can save 100 $ plus with taking a chance on getting rifle that doesnt shoot worth a cuss and have to send back or sell then it’s worth the trouble to shop around on these cheap rimfires. I saw the rifle i want for 244.00. And free shipping no tax but now i can’t find the deal !! It was 3am at work when i found deal and should have bought it then but wanted to wait until i got home. Now i can’t find !

I use Gallery of Guns. There are MANY sellers in the Houston area, Tomball Pawn and Jewelry always the best of them. Put in the zip code and it finds them. Then I can compare with the hassle of shipping etc. online sellers. Usually not enough less once FFL is paid etc. Good luck.

If you go to Gun Deals, and use the search feature till you find what you want, you can click on it and lower on the page is a header that says find prices or best prices. When you click on that it will show a bunch of retailers that have that model and will give you the price and the shipping price so you can compare.

Befriended an FFL some time ago. Charges a very small fee over wholesale. Keep his FFL on email so when out of state/online you can have handguns shipped. I’d recommend going this route. Then be a good tipper.

Retail is usually overrated.

Until they closed their retail shop I went with a local. Really nice place with lots of used guns that you could handle out on the floor.

I wanted to buy a pistol that was just a bit different than their stock model. They bought the gun from Bud's, charged me the same price Bud's listed and a $10 FFL transfer fee. So, I'd say that Bud's is a good litmus test for gun prices.

Yea maybe if you lived in a real town with real people. I went into We Kick Brass in Royal Palm Beach. I guess they only sell to operator types, could not even ask a question in the 20 minutes i stood at the counter. I supose I wasn't cool enough to be one of their customers. Suits me fine. We had a guy that worked or was retired from Pratt & Whitney that ran a nice shop that I stopped in at least once a week. Bought at least 3 or 4 rifles and 1 handgun from him and 20 or more sets of RCBS dies and lots of bullets and Dillon tools and accessories. He sold the shop and moved to the Florida panhandle. I miss him and his business. wish there was a good shop around. I have to drive to Stuart to buy from Drifter's Gear or order from Blue Collar Reloading now.

Honestly? You should buy from your local guy and realize he isn't making any money. Selling new guns you might make 10 percent if you are lucky. Maybe 30 bucks on a Glock at the Gun Show. It really is a horrible business model.

I suppose there are locals that mark there stuff up crazy high (or in retrospect, a normal retail 30 to 50 percent, which is perfectly acceptable in any other business). But, I bet there is a local that has decent prices. Of course there is sales tax.
