Prevalence of cheating at club matches?

if you compete you will experience this, no matter what the competition is. I hate to see it. Unfortunately it will always be this way. Sometimes it is an honest mistake as Falconpilot pointed out. If done on a regular basis, it needs to be corrected. I do not envy you being in this position, but it needs to be pointed out to the shooter and him given the opportunity to correct his action. I would not argue or threaten, just point it out and if he wants to say it is a mistake, then it is his duty to correct his mistake. This is not a race where anything goes, this is a competition with rules that each competitor agrees to abide by. It is up to each person to do this. This is one drawback with F-class, it is very dependent on the honor system and some lack in that department.

Good luck! I hope you find a way to deal with it. I wish I had advice instead of opinions.

If you run at least 3 relays, with competitor acting as a scorer for every shooter, you eliminate the problem. Not to mention, teh NRA Rules prohibit a shooter from keeping his own score.

Maybe just find a way to attach clipboards to the bottom of the target frames, that way they are at eye level when the target is up, that way we can write the score down when the target is up.

Either that or have 5 sighters at 1000 and two at 600 and 300, and if the shooter needs more sighters he can just ask the RO for more, he can't have more than 7 anyways! This would make it easy on the target pullers to keep track of dropped points without the need of clipboards.

Is US F-class always shot in string? Having 2 shooters per target and marking each others score would solve this problem as well. Works great for just club matches

Just as we are discussing cheating there is a story going around about a tournament fisherman getting caught.

Not always... there is some Fullbore F-Class shot here and there, but the major variant is string-fire most places, especially for club matches. Pair fire, with two people per target and two relays (if there is an odd person, have one group shoot three-to-a-mound) does work pretty well, moves along surprisingly quickly, and makes shooters work on their wind doping skills more. And it cures the 'competitors scoring themselves' issue though there may be buddies scoring each other a little on the 'generous' side...
