I see retumbo as a slow magnum powder in my head. Works great in 375 h&h. Id choose a faster powder in a 264wm- 7828 is one of my favorite fast magnum powder

Thanks for the suggestion. I was thinking about trying RL-33, next. I’ve read a few threads reporting very good results with RL-33 in the .264WM with 140 gn bullets. I was hoping 120 gn bullets were close enough to 140 gn to see similar results. I am certainly open to suggestions, too.

I would bush it. Search "cratering" to see other posts I've made showing before and after on bushed firing pins. --Jerry

Loading 1.4 grs more powder then Barnes maximum may require "bushing" to reduce primer flow.

But not going to help at all when the primer pocket expands after a few firings and there is a gas leak between primer and pocket.


3490 - 3288= 202 fps difference between your velocity and Barnes. Velocity, never a good way to guess the pressure of a loading

I have seen the 7mm Rem Mag run at a few grains over listed maximums years ago.

Just read the pressure signs. Be safe.
