Press upgrade

I guess it boils down to whether you want to reload at the range or in the shop. In the shop the new MEC Marksman looks like a pretty good press though I haven't tried it. Forster makes a good one though it's pretty pricey. The RCBS RC press is a good one and I've used one for years. CH used to make a decent press. Lee makes a good one and Redding does. There are many good presses out there but the old RCBS is still very good.
Benchrest presses for reloading at the range is a different matter. The Hood is a good one and sets the standard but Harrell's makes a decent one that's cheaper. A friend on mine that has a CNC shop made a short run of Hood copies using some beefier materials and sells them for $275 I think. RCBS partner press is used by a lot on the range and is a cheaper alternative that does fine. But for seating the Wilson inline is what most competitors use and the various hood copies will accommodate that.

+1 Dave on the older made in USA Rockchuckers. I've still got my 48 year old RC. Also use a Hood press at home and as a portable press.

I admire the craftsmanship of the German made presses and the Dodd style and Lenzi presses. If money was no object, I'd own one.

Also have a brute of a purpose made press for bullet making.

I think that Jackie Schmidt is at the top of our game. Jackie uses 3 or 4 RCBS Partner presses that he has mounted to his loading table at the matches.

I have the MEC press the past year or so and like it much more than the RC I used the previous 20. In fact, the RC isn't even my #2 press as that would be the old pacific super deluxe I use for depriming.
