Precision Air Rifles

Plus one with Jeff! Burris signature rings are THEE only way to go on air Rifles...Period. You can center the scope crosshairs then use the +- 5 or 10 or 20 shims to move that cross hair to center. You will then have all the adjustment needed. I have been using these rings from when they first came out about 25 years ago. All my guns, 1K, 100-300 yd BR and air rifles wear them. Just something to try and you'll be hooked ! LOL
I spoke with an engineer from Diana who said the spring impact is only part of the scope issue. He said the vibration of the spring is maybe even a bigger problem and he feels the plastic inserts help isolate the scope from that vibration.

I just stumbled on this discussion. I am wanting to get a pcp and know nothing about them. Once again thanks to all the individuals on here that are willing to educate rookies like me. Its kind f overwhelming when you are looking at it without much knowledge.
Thanks to all of you
Mark

What are you wanting the PCP rifle for? There are ones set up for hunting, plinking, competition, target shooting without necessarily competing.

Burris used to make, a "Special" 4 X, Airgun Scope, that works "Well" on "Springers" for, the Last 40+ years, on My Diana model 34 in .22 Cal @ 900 to 1,000 fps !
Smokes,.. Crows. Cottontails and Pidgeon's ( the Lil' fudger, Hit's,.. HARD ! )
It's in my Pile of, SHTF guns, so,.. NOPE,. NOT for, Sale !

I'm sure a lot of us had BB guns as a kid. For most of us, air rifles lost their appeal once we were old enough to start using "real guns" - firearms.

I'm way too far down the rabbit hole of things that go bang to ever have a spring or gas-driven projectile ever be my main thing. But I'm sure air guns for adults have come a long way. And I wouldn't mind dipping my toe in the water of those distant cousins of ours, if truly accurate air rifles are out there.

With that in mind, can anyone point to resources, or actual models, that they have experience with, or that they might recommend?
If you need to keep the sound low and
precision high. Vintage match rifles are a blast.
FWB 300SU with a single maccari spring and fresh seals.
BKL adjustable 1 piece scope mount
Vx 2 3-9 efr
560-590 fps with 10 grain JSB
Super Fun!

I had a 300 mini with this exact optic setup and enjoyed it immensely. But I didn’t shoot it much compared to my higher powered .177s so I sold it.

Just shooting and Squirl hunting
Springers are great for squirrels too. A premium springer costs less than a basic PCP setup when you consider the compressor and/or bulk fill bottle.

PCP is only convenient when you have a plentiful enough source of air for your shooting volume. Hand pumps are cheap but shooting 50 rounds/day is more work than cocking a springer 50 times.

If you can afford $500 for a GX4 compressor and desiccant filter and don’t mind that your shooting sessions are going to be limited to the shot count of the guns cylinder, that’s a good platform and you can just buy any gun and optic that meets your budget. Make sure the scope can focus to 10-15 y at minimum for short range use.

PCP offers much more power than a springer but shot count goes down accordingly. So if you want a bigger caliber going faster take note of shot count. There will come a point where you’ll also want to invest in a bulk fill tank and fill that with the compressor and fill the gun with the bulk tank.

Lots of good airguns, both springers and PCP. To me a PCP is just a .22 with a hose or bottle to fool with. But each to his own thoughts.Keep in mind the worse thing you can do with any Airgun in regards to seals is not use them.

Just go to Utah Airguns.com and look around. Lots of information there, and they are likely the largest dealer in the country.

Few of us just bought tuned DRS Tactical’s from them, they were great to deal with.

How are those working out? They came out while I was shopping for my last one, but they were a little too new for me when coupled with FX’s reputation for requiring a lot of tinkering. I ended up going with a Taipan Veteran 2 from Talon Airguns and I haven’t regretted it a bit. It’s been an absolute tank. It can set for month and pick it up and it hammers just like it did last time out. I haven’t picked up a .22 long rifle since getting my PCPs.
