Pre Fit Barrels for Savage

If I re barrel my Savage BVSS Model 12--what / who sells the best barrel value? I would go back with std 223
Thanks

I've used Criterion (NSS) 20P, X-calibers 20P, PacNor 25-204 and a couple from ER Shaw 222 Rem, 6x47 Rem (rechambered to 6mm-204) and 250 Sav. All have been great shooters.

I have always like Northland Shooters Supply, I've bought a number of Savage actions and factory 223 barrels from them and really like the 20P Criterion barrel I got from them. Ship time was long for me being a 20P and a custom short length. They were very accurate on there estimate of time though.

Numerous good barrel makers out there. One I have come to like is Preffered Barrel Blanks. Call or email and talk to them about what you want. Good barrels, clean very easy and a priced really reasonable.

I ordered a Shilen from Northland Shooters Supply. Had some medical problems and wasn't able to get to work installing it for about 6 months. Looked at the chamber with a borescope and found that it was not concentric. Contacted James and sent him pics of the problem. I returned it and he replaced it with no trouble whatsoever.
I was very impressed with the customer service and would not hesitate to buy from NSS in the future.

It's not the bargain option it was years ago. I was getting prefits 20 years ago for 79 to 129 bucks plus shipping. Back them a high quality barrel fitted was about 400 w shipping both ways. That said today you pay your money & take your chances. It is what it is. I had out of maybe 12 barrels one real doozy from Adams & Bennett at a close out price of $79.00 that 243W varmint contour. I wanted to cry when that barrel gave it up. mike in ct

Shilen from northland shooter supply is likely best value imo. 375 for a stainless select match and they shoot good. My 308 is great and i ordered a 28 nosler.

ER Shaw is cheap and can shoot very well as well, but more of a factory barrel with rougher bores. Copper up for a while. I used those abrasive coated bullets to help break in and after 200 shots or so it cleans well, doesnt copper much and shoots pretty good.

Ok Question on twist
I am locked in to standard 223 I have a one in nine twist now--works perfect with the 40-55 g varmint stuff I have been shooting but I recently got access to a range that is 400 and another is having 300 yd match once in a while so....IF I get a 1-8 twist to better handle slightly heavier bullets --for that every now and then long shoot--will it do the 53g Vmax OK still? OR--what is better than 1-9 if anything for what I want to do
THANKS guys appreciate your patience and time

I would suggest the 1-8.

My Stainless prefit is $289. Delivery is two weeks.

I have lots and lots of customers on this forum. I am very confident in the quality of my reviews.

I'm sorry because I'm sure you've stated it and I'm kinda lazy. Would you repeat who your blank supplier is? Thank you in advance.

1-9” twist should work fine for up to 69gr.
