Pre accident condition

We all know S#!T happens, and sometimes it happens before the 1st shot is fired. This is about 2 of those moments...
1st gut wrenching mishap is this beautiful walnut
Stripped all of the existing finish back to wood and started over
I feel I should mention when ever you pull your wood out weather in public or private use 2 hands with a fim grip and never under any circumstances should you let a stranger handle your wood.

The next project hit a lil closer to home....

Shiraz's Dima, he was down to the trigger guard in assembly when it fell...
I blocked all the clear off with 150 to remove material before starting repairs.
Ouch!!time for some epoxy I still have a polishing to do but it's like it never happened

1 person handed it to another thinking they had ahold of it when in reality they didn't....
I prefer new builds over accidents, but I've been repairing damage my whole life.
Shiraz's hit the floor from about 3.5 feet when it fell off bench.
I was hunting when pictures and message came through, I had that dull sinking feeling in my gut, I can't imagine how he felt.

It's happened to me as well, I've had my lil buffer violently rip a cheek piece outta my hands and fly across the shop, bumped the stand knocking a couple down, 1 of those I was polishing and had to strip and start over.
What really sucks is making that call explaining how I dropped thier baby on it's head.

The only people this kind of stuff never happens to , are the ones who never do anything . You do excellent work , so don't let the small stuff get in the way .
Keep doin what you do , and the other crap will take care of itself .
And BTW ! Ignore the detractors . They don't know anything anyway .

A gunmaker friend of mine (now deceased), name of Martin Hagn, once brought a little double rifle he had built, to the shop to show me. When he was taking it out of the soft case he was carrying it in, he banged the buttstock (a piece of wood probably worth about 1100 dollars) on the vise and dented it. He reacted with a "hmmph" and indicated it would be easy enough to fix any way. Whenever he handed me one of his rifles, I felt like I wasn't fit to handle it. WH

The damage to that work of art is truly gut wrenching. But all this will be forgotten when Brett works his magic on that stock and I am betting it will look better then before. Brett is not from this world with his mad skills havent yall heard!

Lol, I'm pretty sure Boo Boo is Brett's nickname! You don't get good at fixing mistakes without making a few. Its all those years of mistakes and fixing them that makes paying Brett what he's worth, and I think his work is worth more than he charges!

I've held and seen probably more of his work than most, and his only critic is himself!
