My dwelling place
Journal entry by Dianna Schaller — 5 minutes ago
One thing Jedi has been really wanting to do (even before he got sick) was to go on an ATV trip on the big trails. He has either been too sick or has not had enough energy to fulfill that desire. After his last IV chemo we pretty much didn’t do any activity outside of the house, so he could rest and recover. This last Wednesday he got his wish and was able to ride the trails on his ATV. We had plan B and C if he started to not feel well, but he did great and rode for a few hours! See the pics for his huge smile!
Last week we also welcomed a new little piggie to the family, Colonel Fuzzy Butt. He is a curious, sweet little Abyssinian who loves to snuggle and eat veggies.
This last Friday was probably the least complicated clinic visit we’ve had thus far. Jedi has his line accessed, flushed and labs drawn. His labs are stable for the most part with the exception of his platelets-they took a pretty significant dip from last week. They weren’t at transfusion level, so we just took it easy this weekend and we’ll recheck them tomorrow (Monday).
Speaking of Monday, we have to be at the clinic bright and early for Jedi’s PET scan and bone marrow biopsy. He needs to fast for the tests and he is not a huge fan of that, especially after being on a low carb diet today. Please help us pray that we get results of remission tomorrow. That would be a huge blessing!
As you can imagine, a great deal of thoughts have been coursing through my mind regarding these tests and what the future will hold. This morning I woke up suddenly after having a very vivid nightmare. Those are always the worst for me, because every time I try to close my eyes I’m back in that troubling place. So there I am eyes open lying in bed, and I start to pray for protection from harmful thoughts. As I’m talking to my Father and asking Him to be with me where I am, “My Dwelling Place” floods my mind. He reminds me that, “If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.” Psalms 91:9-12
So as we head into tonight, we may not know what tomorrow holds, but we know Who holds tomorrow, and we can rest in that promise! As always, thank you all for your prayers, encouragement and love!
Blessings to you from the Schallers
My Dwelling Place
My dwelling place is God Most High
My refuge and my fortress
When plague and pestilence draw nigh
I'm hidden in His Presence
When terrors fall and arrows fly
His shield will be my safety
When stones across my pathway lie
On angels' wings I'm carried
My dwelling place is God Most High
A present help in danger
I rest secure in love's pure light
Beneath my Master's favor
He freed me from the fowler's snare
Where sin and shame had bound me
Deceived I'd made my refuge there
Till fearless He came for me
Wonderful, powerful
My hope and my defender
Mighty God, Emmanuel
My dwelling place forever
My dwelling place is God Most High
I'll never seek another
For I am His and He is mine
My heart He'll keep forever
I know the Name on Whom I call
He promises to answer
With life He satisfies my soul
And crowns me with His pleasure
Wonderful, powerful
My hope and my defender
Mighty God, Emmanuel
My dwelling place forever
