Prairie dogging checklist?

A competent "spotter" ( if applicable) that can communicate well... AND give easy to follow locations and location of impacts.. nothing worse than someone that gives poor Intel..

People ,
it's his first hunt, it would be wise to NOT have another distraction in Snake infested dogtowns. Just common sense.

Are you talking about nonshooting age kids?

If so the rule should be if your are not shooting then you cannot come.

Depending on where you go, a minivan can be perfect. In Wyoming when the ground is dry I can drive anywhere on the 10,000 acre ranch excepting ravines. Haven't had to take an awning or beach umbrella since I figured out to leave the hatch up and sit under it. Watch out bajaing through the sagebrush though. I poked a hole in the AC portion of the radiator last time out. I drive around as much cactus as possible (especially the bigger ones), but have driven over plenty and never had a flat yet in five trips. The rancher tells me it CAN happen, though.

Here's a photo of my effective use of the hatch as a sunshade with the van way, way out on the prairie. Just be careful not to wear down your cell phone battery (yes, there is actually an AT&T tower in range there) and the vehicle battery at the same time. I warned him, so when my son did that I made him hike the mile or so back to the ranch house to get someone to come out and give us a jump.
