PPU once-used brass for 6. Grendel Question

If this has already been answered, I apologize for missing it. But I was curious on others' experience with reloading PPU brass for a Grendel. I've noticed some here have largely found PPU used-brass to be last quite a few shootings, so long as the loads weren't too hot. I have about 300 pieces and was thinking to reload.

I talked with a rep this morning about the recall, but that extends only to the loaded Grendel ammo. Even with that, however, I've had absolutely no issues.

*6.5 Grendel should be in the title

My experience with PPU brass is it has a good hardness and flex. I used some in 300 WM that lasted and 30-06 and lasted well.

Downside is it takes full brass prep up front, and I needed to neck turn. That cut groups in half.

Depends how much money you want to save for how much labor they will take.

I neck turn everything anymore seems like because it does make a quantifiable difference.

Neck thickness irregularities create different tension around the circumference around the case neck and those inconsistencies will cause bullet to yaw going into lands.

This happens with all manufacturers and lots to vary to a certain degree. I found 270 wsm Norma brass for my 7/300 wsm measured horribly using ball micrometer and my initial load results.

May even be worth paying someone like dj's to turn and annealing etc to start for a new rifle.

Biggest problem I have with the PPU Grendel brass are the primer pockets. Not sure why, but they chose to go with large primer pockets. I've found that they loosen up within two or three firings, they weren't even that hot of a load. They practically fall out of the cases now. I've also found that the large primers have produced higher than normal SD's.

If you've got the brass, go ahead and load it up until the primer pockets wear out. I use the PPU brass I have for hunting so if I lose them I don't really care. For target and competition loads I use Lapua, there's really no comparison. I'm on my 10th loading of the Lapua brass with no signs of expanding primer pockets and there is less than .5gn different in case weight across 150 pieces of brass!
