Ppu brass newer review?

I'm looking for newer reviews for PPU brass. I'm going to be reloading 7mm Remington Magnum, and that is the only brass I can find available. The reviews I'm finding are generally two to eight years old and I don't know if anything has changed recently. The old reviews seem mixed some people really happy and some barely ranking it above the bottom.
Does anybody recently used any PPU brass?
Thanks

I use PPU brass for reloading my M-1 Garand .30-06. Brass usually takes quite a beating in an M-1. PPU has held up well through 7 firings. It's heavier than my Hornady brass. I'm assuming it's thicker. Reloads and functions great. I don't know that I would use it for precision reloading, but it sure works well in my M-1.

I bought a couple 20 rd boxes of 22/250 ammo with PPU brass a couple yrs ago when I finally got around to getting a 22/250. Brass has at least 8 reloads on it, low to middle range powder charges and I anneal after each firing. No issues, have lost a couple or so with loose primer pockets, but that's life IMO.

I use the 25-06 brass for my 6.5-06. Some has 7 firing on them. There are a few that the primer pockets seem to be getting loose but still reloadable.

I read some negative reviews about flashholes being off centered. Has that changed?
I dont expect the level of consistency of Lapua or Norma. With that being said, do you feel this brass is low, average, or highly consistent round to round?

Found some 300 WM on sale 50/$20 and thought why not try. Did all the basic brass workup and found them to be very consistent, held up well so far and accurate.

Take this as a Mixed review . My take is that PPU is more caliber defined . I tried to use it in my 7.62 x 54r ( .308 ) Open rifle for competition and found it to be less than stellar after only a couple of reloads , using 185gr Juggs , in the 2650 - 2670 range . That particular caliber case probably works well for standard use , and hunting , but not for competition . It was just to soft .. Just reading the comments already given on the subject show a pretty wide variety of responses to the question asked .

No experience with PPU 7mm Mag brass, but their 22-250, 7x57, 25-06, & 300 WinMag is pretty nice stuff so far especially at the price. Capacity-wise it's maybe a touch smaller than WW brass from 30 years ago with better uniformity & possibly better quality metal. Powder charges were interchangable in 7x57 & 22-250 with 35 to 50 fps higher velocity in the PPU. The 22-250 has been blown out to Ackley Imp. & fired 4 or 5 times so far with fairly warm loads. The 300 WM has been reformed to 358 Norma & is on the 5th firing. Plain old 7x57 & 25-06 have been more than acceptable after a small number of firings. Except for 1 300WM case lost to a split neck on initial forming to 35 cal., it's all still in use. It's still early in use, but no failures of any kind yet. It ain't Lapua, but it's not bad.

Edit... I opened a new bag of 25-06 tonight & it was a hump to get 20 cases prepped. The case mouths were a disaster, compared to all of the other PPU brass used so far, with big burrs in & out. I actually broke a sweat cleaning them up. A few of the flash holes had noticeable burrs in this bag too. Still not bad for the price though.

I like the brass, at least for 7.5x55. It was one of the first cartridges I reloaded for, and I set the dies up according to instructions. Later I found out I was pushing shoulder back .020+ each firing. Even working the brass that much, they lasted five loads.

Being from the uk there is a lot of this around - brass and loaded ammo, most guys using it in the old military rifles, the big issue I've found is the difference in neck thickness , difficult to get consistent neck tension. I tend to oversize a bit and run a mandrel into the necks, it's nowhere near lapua ,Norma quality, but then its half the price.

Just last week I tossed 50 PPU cases in 7mm-08 into my scrap bucket. They went 16 firings with two length trimmings using an average pressure load. Several pcs. in the 50 showed signs of head failure coming. The primer pockets remained tight to the very end. I consider this brass better than some domestic brands. I use it in my 6.5x55 M38 also. I value the bags of new PPU brass in my inventory. It's good brass.

My findings too. One 6.5 Grendel case ex a 100-ct buy has a shade under 0.003 variation around the neck. If that carries on down the shoulder and case-body (never mind gets worse) it risks producing a 'banana case' under peak pressures.

Then add in variations in neck thickness between cases that you found. I've measured 100 243 Win out of interest too and they've much better necks. Pretty large weight variations across 100 though.

Perfectly good and strong brass for historic military rifles and most field shooting.

Agreed. I find 8x57 PPU range brass frequently. I have a good supply of them to keep my Turkish Mauser fed.
