Nosler brass? any good? How old is this brass I found? is newer stuff better then older?

View attachment 1339727Brass can really vary as @ Ledd Slinger points out
Yeah it can vary from cases to case. ADG does as well.

Interesting on the Lapua cutaway being that thin on the BR case. Not thicker than Norma. Yet everyone knows Lapua will hold pressure much better than Norma. In that case it must be due to a better alloy.

This is a cutaway of Lapua 300 Norma brass vs. ADG 300 Norma brass. Alex Wheeler found ADG primer pockets would not hold pressure like Lapua so I did a cutaway of the two brands in 300 Norma and the difference in strength was immediately obvious.

I called ADG and they said they made it that way to keep the case capacity of Norma brass that people were using before Lapua came out with 300 Norma brass. Unfortunately in doing so they sacrificed strength. Not the smartest business move for a company most of us depend on for strength when running high pressures. Kind of sullies their name and brings any new cases they produce into question for me now. But ADG will still outperform Norma brand brass due to a superior alloy

Lapua on the left and ADG on the right.

Nothing wrong with Norma Brass and if that Nosler was made by Norma ,I'd jump on it price being acceptable .

I think most everyone has seen Great quality and so so brass cases . If one isn't pushing the envelope Remington Winchester Federal does just fine . Higher precision requires more precise components and Lapua delivers but at a cost . I've got 1943 and 44 cases of of M2 Ball brass and have over #10 reloads on some of them . Headstamps FCC WCC LC SL and performance wise isn't an issue ,as ALL are holding up equally well .
You know they made Good quality brass back then ,if Gas Guns can rip em out time and time again .

I've yet to have a case separation . Did have #1 in My 7 RM and didn't have but a couple of reloads on that case . MY guess was a defective case , as velocity didn't indicate any abnormalities . It happens ,as it's damn hard to inspect the inside of a case ,paper clip slip or not !.
