PPC Questions

Just touching the lands leaves the base of the bullet with less than 1/8" neck contact, you can literally push the bullet side to side or pull it with your fingers. I seat it a deeper, just to get enough purchase and neck tension to securely hold it in place.

IMHO, if you can't seat bullets to the point where you are touching the lands you could be leaving a lot on the table in regards to group size and agging ability because you can't fully explore seating depth possibilities. You are essentially forced to jump bullets, so you'll never know what the gun is capable of at seating depths from touch to jam.

Again, I'm not an expert. I'm just some guy that's been playing around with the PPC trying to shoot zero inch groups. Someone more experienced than me may refute what I said above, but I bet that person isn't limited to only jumping bullets in his PPC.

Good luck to you.

Another piece of the 6ppc formula for accuracy is velocity. Tony Boyer says that 3,300-3,380 fps works best for this cartridge.

Priority 1, get the suggested books.

2 , u probably don’t stand a chance of agging competitively off of the wooden bench. Maybe not even evaluating loads.

3, if you get the seating depth correct, you will not be chasing loads all of the time. Small adjustments will work. Find a load window. Might be more than one.

1/8th inch of Bullet in neck might not be ideal, but many matches have been won like that. Have Bart send u some bullets w a longer bearing surface/less pointy nose.

I have both books and though I have read them both, I find myself always going back to them almost like I would use a dictionary or encyclopedia. Nathan Forester or Foster out of New Zealand, too has wonderful knowledge. I have, it is actually his daughter, wife, and himself, their family business if you may, anyways several books on the different facets of shooting, all of which that if do not teach about, definitely makes one think about that some just shrug off.
