PPC bolt face and the .473

TAJ45

Silver $$ Contributor
I have rifles for both so am not "up a creek" trying to get one to work with the other.

However, my question is: Can a bolt face be smithed to reliably work both sides of the above street?

It seems in the dim recesses of my memory that I'd read a comment stating that a mod had been done to where a .473 and PPC could be handled with the same bolt......an AR extractor??

Not really interested in a jury rigged affair that may/may not work all the time but a std mod to effect a reliable result.

TIA

The mini 16 extractor has been getting very popular lately. I've been doing a lot of them. Here is a recent example of a 700 bolt with a ring silver soldered in and extractor installed.

Thanks for confirming what I thought I remembered.

John B. I don't have one yet......

The ring you silver soldered in..........any chance of a pic of it separate from the bolt? That looks like pretty nice work JS.

No pics of the ring, but it's really no big thing. It's just a steel ring in a recess that gets cut in the bolt face with a boring bar. That pic isn't even a nice bolt. Here are a few pics of a 722 that I did for a good friend and then had it hard chromed. I love chrome!
