Power Protection For Electric Scales?

Youll solve every problem youll ever have by using a battery pack. Next best thing is unplug it when not in use. No surge protector will help with the right strike.

My computer store SP has survived through a few thousand SE coastal thunderstorms so far lol. Next one could be it's last of course. I lived in the lightening capitol of the US for four years not too long ago. Tampa, FL. Summer afternoons were like living in a Tesla coil

When i was in ft myers they claimed that title too. Never heard it while in tampa (new tampa, bradenton and all over manatee co)

i bought a furman ac-215A for my autotrickler system. since owning it i have tried it with my gempro 250 and a chargemaster. no doubt in my mind electronic scales do better with clean power

^^^^^^ Yup...you would have to have a very expensive surge protector to absorb a hit on the line close to your location. As Dusty suggests, in spite of having a decent protection device (TL-1200), I still unplug my scale when not being used for a couple of days or when I anticipate bad weather.

Agreed. I disconnect mine every time I’m done just as a matter of course plus it resets my scale which is healthy for it anyway (FX series). After talking to the manufacturer one of the best things you can do for those lab grade scales anyway is unplug them between uses. It’s a long and technical reason why but it is.

I have a line conditioner and surge protecter for both of my chargemasters. another enemy of accuracy is satic, especially during heating season
my 15 or20 year old chargemaster is not very sensitive to the static but my new one is crazy sensitive
purchased a static matt like they use in electronic repair. got that grounded to electric system ground
and under my new charge master. also keep a dryer sheet covering it
hope it works

when I was in Orlando they had air raid sirens on the base telling you to take cover during those storms, no on except essential personnel outside. Never fried any electronics though, knock on wood.

On the FX series there’s a screw on the back that is made for grounding. The manufacturer highly recommends using it and told me most people have no idea what it’s for.

can you ground something in a room(not in the ground outside?) and forgive my ignorance, what is line conditioning?o_O

Yeah you can create a ground line that attaches to a three prong plug. Just go to the hardware store and get a three prong plug and just attach the wire to the ground screw and just plug it in to a socket. That grounds it.
