Power Case Trimmer Recommendation

I am thinking about buying a power case trimmer. Have both Lyman and RCBS but not crazy about either one. No real problems just not quiet what I am looking for. Am considering a Giraud, Dillon & Gracey. Would like the opinions of anybody who has used any of them. Or any other Brand you would highly recommend.

**Also meant to mention. I shoot a lot of wildcats. Will this be a problem??

I would recommend the Giraud. When I finally bought mine I kept wondering why I waited so long

I have Dillon trimmer. Meh.

I also have the Trim It 2. It needs a better power motor.

I use the Forster power case trimmer. Easy to set up, accurate, and don't have to worry about motor failure with my drill press.

Forster trimmer with the 3-way cutters and a cordless drill are what I use and really like.

Had a Gracy, got rid of it and got the Giraud. Giraud much more precise and consistent.

I keep it cheap and simple with the fool-proof Lee pilot shaft system.(for most stuff) I use the little chuck that fits any case, and spin it
with a cordless drill. I've always been able to make a custom length pilot out of another existing size if I need to fit a case that is weird. jd

Doug, unique wild cats can be problematic in that they often need a "holder".

Look before you leap. If each unique holder costs $50, this could add up.

If God granted me (and he never will) the ability to take along with me when I depart from this wonderful world three hard goods,one would be my auto trickler,my Giraud trimmer and my Pre 64 model 70 250-3000. The trimmer is that good!!!!

How many cases are you trimming? I settled on the PMA Micro-Adjust trimmer.

While an active Hi Power shooter, I'd dump fired 223 brass into a 3lb coffee can. When it got full, I'd start tumbling, lubing, sizing, tumbling the lube off, then trimming. Bought a Gracy, which was a huge step up in production speed from my good old LE Wilson that I set up in a drill press. After a few years of trimming with the Gracy, the Giraud came out, and since I'd tired of needing to blow the chips out of the Gracy's shellholder every couple of cases, I sold it & bought the Giraud. So much faster - a 3lb coffee can full of 223 adds up to 300+ cases, and it's not at all difficult to trim them all in under an hour on the Giraud. I do my own bbl work, so when I build a rifle in a wildcat chambering, I make a new shellholder for the Giraud myself. No, my homemade ones don't have the spring-loaded feature that Doug's do, but they work just fine.

Giraud. Giraud also makes I believe a "Tri- Trimmer" which is caliber specific and is chucked in a drill or drill press.The wildcat aspect might make it difficult to get a holder for your calibers. Best to contact him.

Thinking you won’t need it. If you start behaving now and when in Heaven, maybe your groups will tighten up reguardless of your current shooting skills.

Money withstanding, it won’t get said enough here...Giraud followed by Giraud then maybe a Giraud.

Of course for budgetary constraints there are some solid drill based trimmers that index off the shoulder too. Oddly enough Giruad make one of those too.

On the other hand, if you have to trim a lot of cases fast and accurate, I'd recommend the Giraud.

I had most of the others.....now the trim/chamfer/debur is not a chore.

since you are doing multiple calibers the tri-trim and WFT are out

the jiraud is the top of the line

but i really like this one. you can send them brass for your wildcats and they will make inserts. you can power it off a drill motor.

combine that with the benchrite case prep lathe and PMA neck turning equipment and you are set up.
