Power Case Trimmer Idea

I wanted a good power trimmer but didn’t want to spend the big bucks. Settled on the Trim-it II which has the design I wanted because it chamfers inside and out along with cutting the length. I then decided I didn’t want to run it on a drill.

Decided to put a power unit together to run the trimmer.

Trim-it II with 2 caliber dies. $200
Ammo can I had laying around
775 12volt motor with mount and speed controller. $ 35
12 Volt power adapter. $18
small fan to keep power adapter cool inside can. $6
power cord. $ 6
rubber feet for can and power adaptor $8
cord strain relief. $ 8. (Had to buy a 5 pack)
$281 total

Works well. I like that I can adjust the speed as needed. Love the adjustability of the Trim-it II. Just thought I would share.

Nice. Ive been trying to decide how i want to go and need to figure it out soon. I have 4-5k 223 that need to be trimmed.

What made you choose the trim it over the giraud triway?

Also do youhappen to have any links to the motor and speed controller you used?

Nice job!!

My preference is to not have my power trimmers sitting horizontal, but vertical, so that shavings don't get hidden inside the case after trimming. Also, the little bit of vibration from trimming makes any tumble media that happens to be inside to fall out (a very rare issue for me, but it's reassuring).

I went with the Trim-it II because I wanted the ability to add calibers for $30 I can do 3 very different calibers for for $230. The same would cost me $330 with the Triway.

Fan. Not sure it is necessary.

I considered that and may change the setup. I just need to move the power cord to a side and then stand the can up Thanks

Looks good. Ref the shavings, I always tap the case mouth on a wooded block or the bench top to double check for shavings or media inside the case. Just a habit, also do it after removing cases from FL die.
