Powder Trickler Recommendation

Looking for a recommendation on a quality powder trickler. I currently own a RCBS trickler and am not satisfied with how it trickles Varget and H322. Sometimes you get a little and other times too much. Looking for one that is more consistent. Thanks.

Have you tried altering the angle of the tube by shimming the base? When running some tests recently with mine, I found that while using my thumb and index finger to turn the knob was the way to go for fast work, I did better for the last few granules by just rolling it with my finger tip. I had better control. Another improvement that I did a long time ago was to fill the cavity in the base with lead. The best thing that I have done for tricking (recently) was similar to this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCs0Y7HH2zA

Alf is right with this approach. Seems like my last adjustment is always with the thumb and forefinger. Sometimes after having to cut long grain powder kernels in half.

I tried a Lyman vibrator ( automatic )..that was a waste of money..then a Reding..heavy base ..works with any powder i put in it..I mainly use Varget & it works fine..then I bought a RCBS charge master..now that's all I use..worth the money

I used a RCBS trickler for years (also filled the base with lead) but I have recently changed to the Lyman E-ZEE Flo Universal Adjustable Powder Trickler. I don't know if it trickles any better than the RCBS but it fits my needs better.

I had the same problem with my old RCBS trickler, it was very frustrating to use. I finally decided to upgrade to a better trickler although it looked better it didn't work better. The solution I found was recutting the threads in the dump tube ( auger )to 1/4 20 TPI using a plug tap run in past the the feed holes in the tube, I can now dump single grains of Varget easily while weighing charges to .02 grains on my acculab scale. A side benifit is time savings as this has cut my powder charging time significantly.
I hope this helps.

I have a Redding and it works great. Have to watch the spout and if there is a big clump of powder on the verge a gentle tap will get one or two kernals out. If I turn it I can get more than I need. Normally though turning it only spits out a kernal or two at a time.

I don't completely cover the pipe either. If it comes in from the top as sell as from the sides it clumps up in the tube. If it only comes in from the sides the kernals space out more in the tube.

Guess I have it down to an art. Wish my shooting was as refined.

Since its been suggested to use your thumb and forefinger I would like to share my experience. I use a RCBS trickler but sometimes I am lazy and just pinch a few kernels. Well, one night after pinching and loading (and washing my hands) my tounge felt funny, began to swell, and I ended up in the ER due to an allergic reaction. I have loaded for soo long I assumed it couldn't be powder (RL15, but that was a new powder to me). A few weeks later this happened again AFTER I handled RL15. I don't know if its the coating on RL15 or what but I will not handel ANY powder anymore - they all go in the trickler. (this is not a joke and you feel really stupid sitting the ER drooling with a fat tounge)
