powder tray

What does everyone use for their powder tray on a FX120I?

I am using the standard double ear pans but I get errant kernels on the scale. it's also difficult to dump powder in it qr ith the wind blocks and cover on. is their a deeper plan available? maybe with a longer handel?

I have an old style RCBS....perhaps 20+ years old and made a little deeper and of heavier gage metal (I think it is steel vs aluminum for the newer ones) than the newer ones I bought. I did buy an Area 419 billet base and it is MUCH better, and quieter, than the printed plastic base...for a price of course.

Plastic condiment cups from XYZ (3-Guys Burgers, Etc.), 1 -1/4" high plastic pill cup from Nursing home, Solo "red" shot-sized cup from Walmart, I've tried several different things, all taller sides and they work.

+1, metal kitchen measuring cup. 1/4 cup, with longer handle makes it easier getting cup in and out of the FX.

i have that same set from amazon, i thought i would clean the 1/4 cup a little with a wet paper towel, snapped the handle off, i think they are spot welded on. so now i am using the 1/3 cup one. i was probably just pulling on it a little rough.

I fabricated a funnel that works out of things I already had. The addition of baffles slows the powder down enough than it doesn't bounce out of the powder pan. The epoxy ring made from kneadable epoxy is just to hold the funnel level. I can trickle powder into the top and none bounces out of a small aluminum pan even when completely empty. The baffles need to be tilted at least 45° and not extend past half the diameter of the tube (.308 case with the head cut off) or not too close together. I slotted the case with a Dremmel cut-off wheel and used semi-liquid epoxy to seal them in. The neck end on the bottom is bent in about 1/2 way which acts as a 3rd baffle.

I like that. Are you a le to use the auto trickler with that set up?

Only thing I see is a problem removing a single kernel or two when the trickler dumps a couple when only one is wanted. I have a set of tweezers in front of me and never use the shield. That way I can access the pan with the tweezers.

Oh - I turn off the fan in my gun/office room. No air movement because the air conditioner duct is on the other side of the room.

I use the medical 30ml/30cc measuring cup too . I can count the kernals too . Works like a dream while trickling .

I don't know. I use the Dandy/Omega electric trickler with it.

I leave the shield on and just remove the right panel for access and trickle through the top. That way breathing doesn't effect it. Tweezers do come in handy.
