Powder Temp " heat of explosion "

I've seen this mentioned in several replies to reloading/barrel life questions but can 't seem to find a definitive " list " of different powders and the relative heat produced by each. Does anyone have a site or spreadsheet that might list this value ?

The only information I have found states that single and double base powders develop about the same peak flame temperature and are within 100 degrees of each other.

The next is at 43,000 cup or 46,000 psi the peak flame temperature is just reaching the melting point of modern barrel steels.

Your chamber pressure has more to do with bore erosion than anything else.

"Much has been made about ball powders being cooler burning than extruded powders, but the fact of the matter is that there really isn't much difference. Flame temperature is very close to the same for all smokeless powders and runs about 3300 degrees F. Ball type powders tend to be from 3200 to 3300 degrees F and extruded powders tend to run 3300 to 3400 degrees F but there is wide variation."

Yep If your not quick load owner your out on a buch of information you could use to better pick powders for a load work up. Its just a model like the weather guy. But still has some very very valuable information. The above is one of them. Couple that with the RSI Pressure trace system and you will KNOW instead of guessing about what goes on with internal Balistics. Should be agreat tool for anyone serous about loading ammo. ( quick load)
Or youcan just read every truth writen on the internet... Ha!
