Powder storage container

I pulled some .223 mystery rounds I found that were loaded with Varget. I'm going to reuse the powder and was going to store it in some plastic 35mm film containers or a bigger plastic prescription bottle. I ran out of Varget and don't have the jug anymore.

Any issues with these plastic containers for storage for a week at most? It's about 1700-1800 grains of powder.

What other options do you have?

I doubt that a week or less will make much of a difference. Fill the containers to keep out as much air as possible, and hope for the best. You are only talking about 1/4 of a pound of powder. Perhaps find a large airtight zip lock bag to put the containers in for a little extra assurance if you are concerned.

I suggest labeling it well in case things don't go as planned and the timeline stretches out.

Will the powder be used in precision loads?

As long as you are 100 percent sure that it is the powder that you think.
No problem at all doing what you suggest.
Use a good airtight container and well labeled and using it in the near future.
Some guys will pee their pants at the mere thought but you’ll be fine.

No doubt. I can narrow it down based on what I use in any given caliber though. If the OP knows he loads Varget or TAC in that round, then that would be an easy determination.

Is this ammo you personally loaded and you are sure it's Varget? If so, your plan for the containers is probably fine. A disposable tupperware container would probably be better.

If these are truly mystery rounds that you aren't certain are Varget, I'd scrap the idea. Life is short enough without blowing your face off to recoup $15 worth of powder.

I loaded these rounds and only use 2 powders the other being H335 so I can see the difference. Anywhoo I'll load these up soon so they won't be in those containers too long. Thanks for your replies.

now you know why to save plastic powder containers and to have large adhesive paper for a new label,,

Check for static buildup on your film cans. If there is any wipe them down with dry graphite on a tissue or cotton cloth before putting any flammable material in there. In addition to the ignition risk, static will cause the powder to stick to the container.
