Powder RWS Loads in Factory 300WSM ammo.

Anyone know what powder RWS uses with its 184gr RAP-X 300 WSM factory loads? I am pulling a bunch of them apart and could re-use the powder if I knew what it is.

Just to boot this back to the top, I am interested in this as well. I have been using this ammunition in my Savage Model 12 VLP-DBM and although it shoots accurately, I am having some issues with difficult bolt lift. Not really bad bolt lift issues but enough to cause concern about it. Not sure if this is from excessive pressure or from other causes.

Any comments or ideas on the possible causes? Thanks.

Well, I know a little bit more than I did before. There is about 63 grains of something in each case and the stuff acts a lot like H4350 except using about 2 to 4% less powder than with H4350. I have been fireforming 7mm WSM cases with it and it is nice stuff whatever it is, but I think the factory load is pretty hot by my standards if they are getting anywhere near the claimes muzzle velocities. The brass is great stuff and between reusing the powder and primers, not such a bad deal all around.

I am not sure if this is of any help to you or how much RWS ammo you have on hand but this is a REALLY good deal on 300 WSM primed brass. I have ordered a large amount of it and it appears to be of good quality. I haven't reloaded or fired any. This would save you a LOT of bullet pulling and powder salvaging.

$54.99 for a bag of 100 new Federal nickel plated, primed brass is not bad at all. Maybe I was snookered and it is not that great but at this price, I am willing to give it a try. I will post my observations when I get around to loading and firing it.

Never had luck with nickel plated brass. Tried Federal brass last year and thought it substandard. Weighed all over the place and it was very soft.
