Powder funnel. Zeke06

I bought the 419 set and liked it when I started using it. Well machined; looks great. As I used it, though, I got annoyed with the anodizing they use; often the case mouth would stick a bit - just enough to lift the case partially out of the loading block, then drop back in with enough force to spill some powder.

On a whim, I bought the Lyman Brass smith funnel set. Obviously cheaper made; cast funnel as opposed to machined. The inserts are held in by O-ring friction. That said, it works very well. The funnel's interior surface is pretty much polished; I get less bridging with it compared to the 419 funnel. The Lyman is now my go-to when loading.

I recently bought the SAC Modular funnel and stand and extra length inserts. I love this thing. I know it’s expensive but I’m an older retired guy like you.
Let me explain. Prior to the new funnel setup, my normal procedure was to measure the powder, pour it into a funnel on top of a case in a block of 50 empty cases. Then move the funnel over to the next case while picking the charged case up and moving it to the press and then seating a bullet. Worked fine for years. until this past June where I had a squib load during a match. Why? No powder in the case. I had a senior moment when moving the funnel to the next case and, I speculate, just forgot to charge one case.

Now with the SAC funnel stand, I am forced to pick up the case and insert it into the funnel bottom and then it goes directly to the press for seating. Worth the extra money for peace of mind.

Thank you guys!

Dont know it will improve any reloads, but I am hoping to eliminate some of the leaked powder, especially the fine ball powders.

I always pull a primed and ready case from one block, fill it, move it to another block, and inspect each round with a flashlight, before seating the bullet. Helps to eliminate several chances of senior moments, if you know what I mean.

Thank you to all!

For what it worth after a bunch of trial and error ended up with 21st Century’s funnels and also Area 419. The weight of the 419 funnels really lends itself to doing large reload session using loading blocks. The 21st Century is more delicate and much easier to use with smaller case bodies. One other observation is that the 21st Century’s drop tube is transparent (clear plastic) so you can see your powder flow and if it has all gone into case. This is beneficial with smaller calibers when loading stick powder into small/narrow neck diameters.

I’m sure there are less and more expensive funnels that work equally as well. Good luck!

Don't know when he was last logged in.. but the powder funnel that Chris (Zeke06) makes is very nice..And not overly expensive either.. I hope that something hasn't happened to him, he is a very nice fella..

This is a great idea, but I don't need another item on my already-cluttered reloading bench. I just ordered one of these to clamp on to my K&M arbor press and hold my funnel. We'll see how that works. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AWS3RGY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I guess I am really getting old. Never saw anything wrong with my green funnel. Never dawned on me a new funnel would improve my reloads!!

Depends on what you mean by "improving your reloads".

If you've ever got bridging in the funnel causing a short charge (or worse an overcharge on the next case), or had to clean up the resulting mess that the spilled powder caused, or got tired of checking for bridging every dump, I'd consider that an improvement on the process which would translate to improving loading, if not the loads themselves.
