Powder for 6XC - Varget or H4350?

I'm shooting Berger 105gr Hybrids out of 28" Brux 8 twist barrel. Looking for the fastest , most accurate powder load. Any info or load data appreciated!

Ive just started with this round and after all the reading, the majority of folks run H-4350 and usually from 38-39 grains. Most groups and good repor came with 38.5gr of H4350 w/ 105's and 108's.
I have to say the same, I settled on 38.5gr with .020 jump with 105 Berger hunting VLD. I tried .010 jump and it was still o.k., but .020 just was the ticket.

Hope this helps... Now if I could just get mine to feed with the BDL magazine

Only problem with RL-17 is it`s temp sensitive. Great powder but you will have to adjust loads accordingly.

You probably should try both if you have them to let your rifle decide for you. That being said I think you'll find what you want with H4350 or IMR 4350. There are several other powders that may also work very well for you. N550, VV150, and R-17. R17 works really well, my advice would be to develop your load around a magnum primer when using the R17. ;)WD

8208 XBR with 105 Scenars shoots like a "house afire" in my 28 inch 8 twist kreiger...

What velocity with what barrel are you getting, and also coated or non coated and distance to lands?

I just finished a 6xc on a Barnard, and the 115 DTAC and 105 Berger Hybrid both liked .020 off. The Noslers 105 were good at 0.010 off and the scenar didn't seem to like either, so I might have to play with that one a little. Don't have many left, but I do have alot of 90's to use up, very similar profile. Any data with those?

Thanks!

I have shot out 4 or 5 XC barrels all with 105 hybrids

If it doesn't bug hole between 39.0-39.7 of H4350 something is wrong with the rifle. .015 off with hybrids is money

Did a little practice yesterday with the Barnard 6xc at 100 yds. Shot some Lapua 90 scenars with 37.0 Varget. No idea on the speed, but they turned in the most accurate 10 shot group to date. Used Fire Formed win 22-250 cases and Tula Mag primers.

I use Varget in my 6x47 Lapua with outstanding results shooting 105 Hybrids. With a 26" Bartlein I get 3022 fps with 34.7 grns wih no hints of pressure. H4350 works well but it seems to shoot better with the Varget. I have tried it all the way up to 3150fps with good results.

Don't overlook IMR4350. When I built my 6XC there was no H4350 to be found. I reluctantly bought some IMR. All I can say is - it works! I'm getting 1/4 to 3/8 MOA groups with IMR 4350 and 107 Sierra MK's with an average velocity of 3100fps. It shoots 105VLD's just about as well. For some reason the 105 Hybrids didn't perform. The barrel is a 29" Shilen 8TW.

Anyone have the Berger manual? It lists alot of powders other than H4350, I saw it briefly but don't recall the loads. 90% of the data for 6xc is H4350 and a 105-108...and that's great and works, but there has to be other options.

H4350 is my go to powder for the XC but I have substituted RE17 same exact charge and shot cleans at 600 with the same sight settings.
