powder for 6.5x55

Looking for suggestions re: the best powders for 120-125 gr bullets to use for deer hunting. Would like around 2900fps using a modern action.

A friend of mine had great success with Vit N160 with 120 Nosler BT's in the Swede.

I have a can of Vit N560 that I was trying in a 300 Win Mag. Sounds like it may be a good place to start.

I have always had great results using AA or IMR 4350. I load 46 grs AA 4350 with 120 Nosler ballistic tips and out of my 29" barrel sported M-96 Mauser I get 3000 fps and exceptional accuracy. This is a max load for the small ring Mauser that is under 46000 CUP pressure. If you are using a stronger action you can use more powder. By the way this is a real deer killing combo. BANG FLOP.

Over the years I have owned several Swedes and tested many loads with different powders. I always came back to Reloader 22, without exception.

in my 700 rem 6.5 swede i have tried alot of the slower powders like rl 19 and 22 but found my best speed and accuracy with the old tried and true varget. go figure. this is with the 123 and 130 class bullets.
one thing i shoud have tried was h4831 or rl 22 with a mag primer. that may have done it too.

I have always liked H-4831SC or H-4350 for reloading the Swede for either the original m96 or m38 lower pressure or in modern actions to modern pressures.
