Try some IMR 8208. Tommy McIs varget that much preferred over reloader 15 for 69, 77, and 80 grain SMK bullets in 223 bolt gun ?
What are the different traits of these two powders ?
Ive never been able to get Varget to shoot in my .223 bolt guns. Re-15 and w748 are the powders I use for heavy bullets. 73 gr and up. N133 for light bullets, 70 gr and below.
Ive been shooting more w748 than anything else in my .223 bolt gun and AR, because its available.
Re-15 requires more frequent cleaning, like every 15 rounds. I will shoot up to 25 rounds of W748 before I clean.
Varget has been great with the 80gr VLDs for me.
IMO, pick 1 or 2 powders, any more powders is just adds to the confusion with all the other variables.N-540 FOR ME WORKS WELL
