A friend has an 8# jug of the CFE Black that he would like to sell, It seems to fast for my 222 with 50's

How would this work in a 221 FB with 36's, 40's or 50's
or in a 222 with 36's?

Any info is appreciated

A search came up with limited information.

Thanks
Mark

Mark, I'm a Fruball lover, shoot two of them. I'm always on the search for that ideal powder in all my rifles, the 221FB included.

To that end, I've seen many posts here claiming CFE Black is a very good choice in the FB case. No personal experience (yet) with it, as RL-7 and A2200 have been stellar performers in all my FB based rifles and I have beaucoup amounts of both, but if I was to try something different, it would be CFE Black as my first choice.

I shoot only 40gr bullets in both of mine for sage rats and rockchucks for the speed, but I'm getting performance in the .2's with the Nosler BT and their Varmageddon. The V-Max is not far behind.

Looking forward to hearing how it does for you in your Furball. Having an 8lb jug is purty sweet!

I would think it would be good as well. I use it for my 17 Hornet, and it's the best for me there. It's similar to AA 1680, but I find it more stable, and that's a good 221 FB powder. My rifle likes RL7 and N120, have not tried CFE BLK yet, but I'll give it a try on the 34gr FBHP bullets I've got, as 1680 isn't quite as good as I'd like.

You won’t be disappointed. I use it in the VarTarg which you probably know is a FB case. I thought RL-7 couldn’t be beat until I tried BLK. I like it a lot because it darn near fills the case. Im shooting 19 grains with a 32 Blitzking.

I shoot it a 22 K-Hornet I would think it would be idea for 221 fireball I shoot H -4227 in my fireball

Thanks for the replies and info. My friend wanted an old Square B Deal I had gathering dust and a little cash for the 8# jug. Not sure if I will get around to trying the new powder this season or not. Like you guys I have a couple good loads already.

Any load info is appreciated tho

Thanks
Mark

I will try the BLK today with 36 grain barnes Varmint Grenades. A good lead free load for Cali. would be nice.
