Possible velocitiy guess

Finally worked up a 'killer' load for my new .20 Practical. Went out this morning to register velocities and it appears my Magneto Sporter bit the big one. Care to speculate on possible velocity?

40 gr. Hornady Vmax
Lapua cases
N-133 24.0 grs.
81 degrees
247' above sea level
28" finished length barrel

You do realize that a good guess will get you a number that might get as close as +/- 200 fps, right? The Magneto sporter might be OK and you just need to adjust the gap to get it to register the smaller bullets.

Do you mean get it closer to the bullet path? I already used the thinner of the two spacers.

Probably right around 3300. Shoot at a couple distances and record the drops, plug it into a calculator and adjust velocity until it matches your drops. This will get you close.

25 grs of 335 and 40 gr vmax =3588

3300? more like 3700 +/- 50 24.0g N133 28" barrel.

Have you tried adjusting the sensitivity level for smaller bullets?

The post is old but, appreciate the respond. Yes, the battery was weak in my Magneto. A new battery and changing the sensitivity to H-1 solved my problem.

Glad it worked out. I like my MS, but every now and then forget about that setting and wonder, what the hey!!
