Possible New World record!

Wayne, The Dasher in a light gun may make a Heavy obsolete …….. ;)….. jim

Jim,
I think it already has, I don't have exact numbers but doesn't that beat the heavy gun group by about 1/4" I can't wait to hear what goes on over there today, I almost took the day off work and drove over there!
Wayne.

Wow! Awesom! Great job Jim. Looks like Berger gave you 2 bad bullets in that lot ;D just kidding.

Ol' Walt sure has transformed the shooting world with his bullets ...

A big congratulations Jim!

Good friend just moved out to MT this year. Avid BR shooter and at the match yesterday, pulled your target, or was next to it in the pits. Told me he was in heaven being around great shooters like yourself.

Now to go on to the magical 1's:) Looking forward to todays scores.

Glad to hear the Hybrids can still do the job. Many have been promoting the Berger 108s. I still have 2,000 of the hybrids, so I still have hope.

Again great job,

Steve

Way to go Mr. Jim!! That rifle also treated me very well!!! Congradulations on some kind of fine shooting, Tim

I sure hope we see a write up in the coming days. For those of you that don't get it, here's an example.. let's say the world record time for a one mile run was 3 1/2 minutes. This is like some guy showing up and doing it in 2 1/2!

That's apples to oranges. The physical exertion in running a mile, vs. pulling a trigger and reading the wind, are in different galaxies. The first requires somebody to be nearly superhuman. Roger Bannister ran the first documented sub-4 minute mile in May/1954. The mile record is now 3:43, i.e. reduced by 17 seconds in sixty years. So, it's unlikely, given human evolution, that another person could lower the mile record by one minute even in the next few centuries.

But one would agree that 24% is still 24%.... yes the athletic prowess of Jim was not my point.

That does bring up a possible handicap for Jim to "promote equality." Perhaps Jim should have to perform some set of calisthenics just prior to shooting. That way, everyone would have an equal chance. ;)

My point is that an incremental improvement in group size record is not at all the same as the cited world-record setting athletic endeavor. The latter would be impossible. The only way Michael Phelps is beaten in the pool in his best events by 24% is if the competitor were a fish or in a boat. 8)

No need to be so critical of a meaningless metaphor. The rest of us understand what Tom is trying to say. Doesn't take a genius to figure out that his main point is that the old record was smashed by a significant amount.

100% Spot On!!!!
Wayne.

Congrats to Jim. That's an awesome feat of shooting for sure. A new Aussie record for LG was set a few weeks ago at a group of 2.1" IIRC with a dasher so it seems the dashers are the go. Great work mate. Hope we see a write up on the main page soon!!!

Tom,
I pretty sure Donovan knew what you was referring to,......I did,..I think he was funning with ya ;)
Wayne.

WOW!!!!! way to go Jim! That's wayyyy awesome. Very happy for you, that's quite an achievement and we have it in Montana where it should be. ;)
Wayne.

Guys
This 2.659" group has been confirmed as a new world record on Pennsylvania 1000 yard Benchrest Club site, as of 21 May 2014
