Positive portent?

Has anyone else noticed the change that has occurred incrementally in terms of reloading components over the last 2-3 months?

For at least a year prior, every day seemed to bring new discussions which were largely aimed at complaining that reloading components were simply not available anywhere.

However, there has recently been a shift in the focus of many such discussions. Now, many of the complaints are about the exorbitant prices.

I actually view this as a positive thing. You may have to sell a lung or kidney to afford them, but at least the components are becoming more readily available. ;)

Even better is the fact that prices have been better on the local level than on the internet sites. Around here at least.

If prices continue to escalate, eventually fewer people will be able to afford the components or will be UNwilling to pay for them, whether they can afford them or not. This will lead to a greater supply. However, the "greed", where ever it is along the "pipeline", if it continues, will eventually cause a huge subsidence in demand due to "unaffordability".. Those "people" causing this situation may in fact be shooting themselves in their economic foot. Dwindling demand will eventually cause lower production and thus lower profits. I sometimes wonder of this "new" management paradigm of profits NOW at the expense of the long run viability of both the market and future profits. Very shortsighted in my "old school" view.

Maybe Remington starting back up is offering relief for ammo demand, so components are becoming more available. I have been on notification lists for hunting shotgun shells for six months, and none have been replinished.

Benjamin I find U.S. has turned into a short memory country. It all goes in cycles. A few extra circumstances this time. A 50/50 country now. It will always be something. I remember President Carter so maybe we'll get lucky and have a good one next election.

Archery is looking better and better all the time. Now if I can get that arthritis in my right elbow to go away I might get to archery hunt again and not think about the high prices of components.

This will change rapidly(for the bad) as today Joe told us we all need to suffer, in support of his definition of democracy(Ukraine). But he needs this before the midterms, and China to take Taiwan, to further the new world administrative government he(democrat/marxist) are trying to usher in. 5$+ gas(midwest), fertilizer 2-3x = huge inflation of energy and food. All before Nov. Economic contraction, followed by Big Government regulation/digital currency for taxation. Probably pull a Trudeau and declare an emergency if polling worsens.

Even with Vista reporting that Remington was producing primers by the end of last March, I haven't seen any remington 7 1/2 primers.

I like that. We can’t control our borders and the D.A. thinks he can police the world. Wouldn’t surprise me at all for him to try to pull a trudeau.

My mindset shifted when I saw pallets of 9mm and 5.56 at the local BassPro not getting bought at $0.50 and $1.00 per round, respectively. Hoarding had stopped and people either wouldn't pay or found it elsewhere.

Hornady bullets have been available for some time at Scheels in Reno. Some Sierra bullets were available as well, in fact, they even dropped prices for a number of products a couple of months before Christmas, then had a 25% off bullets sale as well. They may not be the latest and greatest match bullets, but......they are out there in fairly large amounts.

The ammo is starting to get out there in large amounts, and remaining unsold.

Powders have been available at Scheels and Sportsman's Warehouse, especially the one pounders. At something like $37 per pound, but it is available.

22lr rimfire at .12 to .15 each.

Fresh primers were available by one firm at the last gun show, some were still unsold on Sunday early afternoon at $90/k. People's stashes are still available for $120 to $150/k.

I don't visit Cabelas or the small local shops anymore.

And the award for the most available ammo for the last 2 years is------6mm Creedmoor.
