position of rifle on rest & rearbag for f-class

anyone have links or advice on proper/standard positions for both the rifle and the person?

* Position of rifle on the rest...
- Can the end of the stock rest far out beyond the front rest bag, say 4-6 inches or are there adverse effects to this (assume bump stop is removed)?
- How do you line up your rifle with the tripod rest and the rear bag with your rifle? Is there a standard way to make sure its tracing nicely?
- Is the front/rear bag typically packed in hard with sand or is it a little loose?

Well this a lot questions to ask but pretty good ones. Part of the harmonics and elevation control comes from the stop on the rest. If you remove it you will have it in a different position each shot and probably walk off or on the rest with each shot. Setting the stop up forward shouldn't hurt anything and helps some rifles that tend to bounce on the front rest. A longer axis between rests is desirable though for precision shooting . Th front bag should be filled with a sand that stays loose such as washed sand and checked often to prevent packing. The base of the rear filled full with heavy sand preferably and ears full enough to be tight when the stock is seated in them. With everything set up properly the rifle should glide in the bags with no slack side to side. I have spent entire evenings spoon feeding my bags to get this.
