portable light weight shooting bench

More years ago than I care to remember I was looking for a stable light long-range shooting platform for hunting. I tried a few different platforms but none did what I wanted. All were effective in providing a suitable and steady rest but not what I really wanted. T first one I used was a surveyors tripod with a locking ball mount which I used for years and killed many deer at well over a thousand yards the farthest one over 1350 yards. The next one I tried was a shooting rest that I bought from a company in Blairsville PA which worked but was impossible to level when swinging left or right. The one I use now is one that I made and is a bench with adjustable legs weighs in at 33 pounds. You can level it and swivel 360 degrees while kneeling, siting or standing. It has an adjustment of 9 inches for elevation and uses a rear bag for the stock to ride in. Link to pictures show all three setup’s. Let me know what you think or improvements you would suggest.

nice looking well thought out bench all the way down to the polyurethane tubing spoke handles..
1350 yards? Good heavens, dang deer don't stand a chance.
is the elevation screw slotted to prevent rotation?

That steel frame looks JUST like the one I made! Except I put caps on the end of the rectangular tubing. You wouldn’t have possibly seen something like that in Willow Hill,PA, did you?

Yes I did. I should have stated it wasn't my design and that I copied it. Sorry if I implied it was my design.

Seems to me that you could just get your rifle equipped with an ARCA rail, and then use a tripod with the appropriate clamp. Lighter, easier to carry and store, pan, tilt, change elevation, the works. Like is popular in the PRS world. Many of them shoot rigs weighing 20 lbs.

But DIY can be very satisfying...

I suspect it is like this. Please excuse the welds. I have good and bad welding days. This was a bad one but you get the idea. WJM can add if his is different than this.
