Popped a primer - hard bolt lift ?

Link

Popped a primer replaced the trigger now I have hard bolt lift during cocking. What's up ?
thanks

If you want to send you bolt for firing pin bushing I will of course disassemble the bolt and make sure there is no obstruction causing bolt lift issues. PM if you need it bushed.

Jerry, does bushing a firing pin help if a guy is using large primers?
This has been on my mind for a minute.

Primer flow/cratering doesn't care which primer you are using. There are some subtleties if you're on the edge. But I bush every bolt up to 338LM. Now some of the small rounds such as 6br have very high peak pressure and are really tough on primers but if you're running a high pressure with either small or large primers, you'll get cratering with a large firing pin hole.

Now the panda is usually a medium firing pin hole (around .070") and can often get by without bushing.

Yes my rifle is up for a complete do over at the end of summer. I was wondering if my hard bolt lift could be trigger timing. ? I guess it will be a [ 2 hour ] trip to the smith
thanks guys

I just started shooting 6.5 creedmore. 600 mohawk/ Krieger. I bought Lapua , small primer cases and had severe primer flow/ cratering around firing pin. Instead of bushing the bolt, i bought norma/ prime cases that have large primer's. The problem is completely gone now. Same high pressure max loads with no primer cratering. This was a 308 originally and i had shot a lot of high pressure max loads and it never had primer cratering on those large primer cases either. So i would say there are two ways to solve this problem.

That was my first thought

Pandas either have a .068 or .075 firing pin. Most the newer ones with .308 bolt face will come with the .068. When you blanked a primer Id bet you bent a lever in your trigger and now its resetting before you open the bolt which causes the cocking piece to drag hard across the top lever of the trigger when you open the bolt. It will open normally with the trigger removed if thats the case. The other issue is the sheared disk from the primer which should be cleaned out of the bolt.

The last time I popped a primer it broke the trigger so this time I installed a new Jewel so I don't think that's it. I hope the bolt just needs a cleaning so I can shoot tonight.

Update / I tool my rifle to my smith today. By the time I got there it was ok. Must be that 45 minute ride in the truck fixed it lol. He inspected and cleaned it . It seemed to work ok at our shoot.

thanks again.
