after spooking the first one , found the second one pretty quick. About a hundred yards . Layed the 17 HMR across the truck mirror and settled on his head . Gun cracked and he stood there for a second and ran for cover . So I'm thinking WTH ? Twenty minutes later , comes back out and stands up real pretty for shot number two , again rifle cracked and he hauled butt . About forty minutes or so passed and I was figuring I should move . Saw something move at back quarter and another one came out of the fence row . Turned and aimed for middle of chest this time . Gun cracked and got the helicopter tail . Walked over and turned it over looking at the exit wound and noticed a bloody spot on the ear . Dang ! This is the same groundhog . Clipped his ear with one of the earlier shots and was still dumb enough to come back out .
Didn't see any more till I came back this afternoon , shot one at about eighty yards with the 222 52 gr Speer hollow point . Went with a center of chest shot since I was shooting so poorly this morning , holy cow that little hollow point made a mess .
