POLL..Who Uses S/S Pins for Case Cleaning

I'm mystified when I read about people supposedly having trouble with brass that has been cleaned in SS pins. I shoot 5000 rounds a year, the biggest majority of that is centerfire. I have been cleaning brass with SS pins for quiet a few years. Zero issues!

When I used my Harbor Freight tumbler, I could detect very small neck marks right at the lip under high magnification, but not what I would call "peening" if by that you mean the metal was worked to any significant degree. I attribute those tiny marks to the fact that the small tumbler required the drum to be only partially filled with water because of weight restrictions caused by the low power. The brass used to thrash around quite a bit.

Now I have a Frankford tumbler (should have bought one in the first place). I tumble brass with more media (usually 7 pounds) and a full-to-the-brim canister. This greatly reduces the violence of case-to-case impacts. Now the lip of my case necks look the same as when I put them in. I usually set the timer for 90 minutes and the brass comes out absolutely spotless inside and out.

Since I hate handling cases individually more than absolutely necessary, you are unlikely to ever catch me polishing the inside of my case necks or individually lubing them either. I wet moly coat my bullets more to serve as a lubrication for bullet seating (and, in theory, bullet release when firing) than for what the moly may do for my barrel, either good or bad.

I don't win every match, but most of my 600 yard rounds fall on a 9 to 3 o'clock line so I'm quite happy with my brass prep procedure; ............. my wind calling ability........... um..... no so much. ;)
