Polishing Fluted Barrels

Hi All,
I want to polish my Lilja fluted barrel to match the finnish on my action, are their any tricks to help avoid rounding the edges of the flutes.
I have a lathe and buffer.

if you don't have LOTS of polishing time in on a buffer your going to screw it up.
Chucking it in your lathe and using strips of abrasives will be the best way not to screw it up.
