polishing actions/barrels

I just saw on the bulleting that a guy had a bat action that looked like it was mirror polished. Just curious what the best way to do this is. My action looks more like a brushed polish finish, which is nice. But, if I decide to go this route, is there a way to do this without taking it to a smith to finish it.

You would need a buffing wheel and the correct compounds to polish it with.

My BAT MB and barrels have the matte finish too, and I prefer it. All that polishing means lots of fingerprints and wiping and more polishing.

I'd rather shoot.

There is an easy way to overcome the fingerprints and polishing ???

It's called Renaissance wax 8)

I polished a Panda last year, gave me something to do over the winter.

And +1 for the Renaissance wax, that stuff is amazing, I put it on all my old blued guns.

Renaissance wax is a protector, the Royal Museum in London uses it on suits of armour, NRA museum uses it on all their guns, Smithsonian uses it on a lot of pieces especially photographs. It serves a little more purpose than entertainment.

Eric,My rifles are faster than Hot Rods also , I prefer crotch rockets over Hot Rods.

Haven't touched a POS Harley in 30+ years!!

If you go the polished route get yourself some very dark sun glasses.

Some BR shooters [Tony Boyer, the highest NBRSA HOF point accumulator of all time, comes to mind] don't touch the raw barrel at all believing that heat dissipates faster as a result.

Something to think about.
